remote key battery needs replacing

remote locking function on the key doesn't work, although the car locks perfectly with the key, this may be the battery although the light is showing, or possibly needs reprogramming which is not a big job.SERVICE HISTORYDATE MILEAGE DEALER23/06/01... could do with replacing.
